The Westminster Shorter Catechism

The Shorter Catechism of the Westminster Confession of Faith helps the Christian study the doctrine or truths of Scripture in an orderly fashion, enabling them to understand and witness and teach others of the glorious Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. 107 Questions & Answers give us confidence in our growth and maturity in Christ.

The Q & A’s are typed on ‘flip cards’ (Business Card size) and placed in plastic boxes. The cards can be placed on a table in the home or in a class room at church. These cards are used by families, home-schooling, Christian Schools, and by Church leaders. The cards also contain Scripture quotations that will help you develop discussions of Biblical Truths.

Definitions of words like justification, adoption, and sanctification, give us tools to express the truths of the Bible to others; remembering that it is the Holy Spirit who is with his Word to bring understanding and practice of these truths. Children and adults benefit by having the Scriptures open to them. Use he cards in youth groups and other times of Christian fellowship. Elders and Deacons, and other church officers become better disciples of Christ and examples to others as they grow as followers of their Lord, Christ Jesus.

The Bible Catechism

These ‘flip cards’ [in plastic boxes] help you learn the Books of the Bible, and memorize verses of the Bible by the use of Questions and Answers. The first 33 cards concern the Books of the Bible and how they are arranged. The next 66 cards ask Questions which are to be answered by Bible verses. These cards can be used in the home or church. Place them on the kitchen table or use them with the youth group or adult class. Teaching in the home [esp. as fathers take the lead] can be a blessing as we grow in the knowledge of the Word of God, the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. The Scripture verses ought not only to be memorized, but understood with the heart and mind. Also take opportunity to read the context in which the verses are found.
